I'm an artist and I believe in uniting our community by empowering, encouraging and focusing on the unique strengths of each generation and the diversity within our cultures. Community input is key to making changes.
I can't make change happen, but
TOGETHER, WE CAN!
If we haven't gone through it, how can we know how to fix it? We need to get personal and ask the community how we can improve their situation. We need to talk to the homeless, to the single parents, to the forgotten class, the forgotten generation, to the elderly and to all our citizens who want to see a change for the better. Then and only then, can we move forward to bettering our community and providing justice for all.
The middle class, I refer to as the forgotten class. The forgotten class is made up of the hardworking citizens who earn too much to qualify for services, including Medi-Cal and food stamps, but also can't afford to pay for health insurance and to get a healthy meal on the table. The forgotten class can't afford to buy a house and usually live check to check just to get by.
I am part of this forgotten class, I've been there, I am there and I will fight for change!
Where are the programs for full-time hard working citizens to get help with putting food on their tables? After paying for rent, bills, insurance and gas for their cars to get to work and school, there's nothing left!
Just one small step to make a big difference in the middle "forgotten" class, is to provide health care for all.
I will fight for the hard working middle class!
Thank goodness in California, we are spending a hefty amount of money to care for our children and our seniors, but what about that generation in between? This forgotten generation is highly overlooked. This is the generation that is not only caring for their children, but they often have to care for their aging parents as well.
We need to work! It's difficult for us to care for our kids, care for our parents and sometimes our grandparents and also hold down a full-time job!
As I mentioned, we have funding to help our seniors, which provides respite to our middle generations to assist with keeping their parents and grandparents at home. We need to make sure our elderly are actually receiving the help they need. We need to make sure providers are trained and are fit to work with our aging population.
I will work hard to mend the relationship between the good citizens of the San Fernando Valley and our Law Enforcement. We shouldn't feel hatred towards or walk in fear from the people who put their lives on the line every day to protect us.
We all have to understand that this is not a one sided battle. We have to take responsibility for our actions as private citizens and as law enforcement.
I will talk to the citizens and I will talk to law enforcement.
We have to work together to create a safer place to live in, a place we can all be proud to be a part of.
Let's work on decriminalization for non-harmful acts in the community. We can do this by enforcing safety procedures that everyone can agree to follow. Communication resulting in compromising can only work if we all work together in decision making.
I believe as Americans, we all have the right to live with dignity and freedom, but not at the cost of everyone else's freedom. We should be able to walk down our city streets without being subjected to people urinating, shooting up and other not for public viewing activities. Our children should feel safe walking to school and home. Our citizens should feel safe walking to the local store or waiting at the bus stop.
This is why I have a plan for restoring dignity, physical and mental health to our homeless population and ensuring a safer place to live and enjoy.
